Bel Air, MD

About

GTA provided construction observation and testing (COT) services during construction of a three-level, 75,000-SF, 72-bed addition above the existing two-level Kaufman Cancer Center at University of Maryland Upper Chesapeake Health’s medical center, as well as the construction of a one-level garden building expansion, and various support service expansions including a two-level generator plant and oxygen tank farm. GTA’s efforts include providing bearing capacity evaluations for foundation improvements, unsuitable foundation soil remediation recommendations, observing rebar preparations for the tower foundation improvements and associated expansions, confined space entry to observe weld continuity, testing of freshly-mixed concrete, observations during helical pile installation and the associated grade beam installation, spray-applied fire resistive materials testing, floor levelness testing, and observing various elements associated with the structural steel framing construction. GTA representatives coordinated with Ground Penetrating Radar Systems, LLC to provide concrete scanning services to identify subsurface conflicts and to provide reinforcing steel configuration within existing concrete walls.
