We are pleased to announce the opening of our Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania location!  GTA Vice President, Randy Daub, P.E., is Principal-In-Charge of this new office which strengthens our ability to meet the geotechnical engineering and construction observation and testing needs of clients throughout Pittsburgh and surrounding areas. This new office supplements our local Beaver Falls, PA and Alliance, OH locations which are also overseen by Randy.

The Pittsburgh office serves commercial, industrial, energy, residential, and institutional clients, contractors, architects, and civil engineering firms by providing timely, value-based solutions to problematic conditions and construction challenges such as landslides, Pittsburgh Red Beds, acid mine drainage, abandoned mine subsidence mitigation, and pre-existing fill sites. Services provided out of this office include geotechnical engineering, environmental consulting, laboratory testing, and construction observation and testing services. 

Randy has more than 29 years of practice and has earned a reputation for solving difficult geotechnical challenges and providing a high level of personal service. He works to serve the best interests of our clients, provides project management, leads the offices and cultivates staff development, and seeks out new business opportunities.
 

Tyler C. Furr, P.G., has over nine years of professional experience working hand-in-hand with clients to successfully execute a multitude of geotechnical engineering and construction observation and testing projects in numerous markets, such as higher education, healthcare, commercial, water/wastewater, oil & gas, utility, solar, municipal, landfill, residential, transportation, and heavy industrial.  As the Pittsburgh office Branch Manager and Senior Geologist with GTA, Tyler is responsible for managing subsurface explorations, developing geotechnical recommendations, overseeing construction observation and materials testing services, training and management of office team-members, business development, budget monitoring, and ensuring client satisfaction.  

Tyler specializes in planning of subsurface explorations, and the geotechnical analysis and design recommendations for a wide variety of projects requiring shallow and deep foundations, landslide prevention and remediation, horizontal directional drilling, mass earthwork, rock excavation, flexible and rigid pavement, geologic and geohazard studies, groundwater and drainage, retaining walls, and slope stability.  His field experience includes monitoring, testing, and evaluation of the placement of controlled fill, stormwater management ponds, subgrade and pavement construction, deep and shallow foundation construction, reinforced concrete placement, rebar and bolt assembly, slope stabilization measures, landslide repair, settlement studies, retaining walls, under drains, erosion and sediment control measures, and other various geotechnical and construction activities.

Tyler earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Geology from West Virginia University. He is a Pennsylvania registered Professional Geologist and has requisite training and certifications for his work such as OSHA construction and HAZWOPER. Tyler is a member of several professional and industry organizations including Pittsburgh Geological Society, Pittsburgh Chapter of National Association for Industrial and Office Parks (Developing Leaders group), Society for Marketing Professional Services’ Pittsburgh Chapter, and Southwestern Pennsylvania Engineering Outreach’s Golf Committee.

Mr. Furr’s ability to diligently manage projects, document project status, identify key project milestones, recognize budgetary constraints, keep project schedules on track, develop a rapport with clients and contractors, and critically assess project challenges has provided great value, yielding tangible savings for clients.
