Brian Awckland is a Vice President for the Wilkes Barre, PA office where he is responsible for overseeing construction observation and material testing (COT) services performed by GTA as they provide services for residential, commercial, institutional, and highway/roadway projects throughout Northeast Pennsylvania.

With more than 21 years of experience with GTA, Brian oversees specialized COT services in the field and laboratory including soil stabilization; shallow and deep foundation systems; masonry, concrete, and steel reinforcement observations; structural steel, cold formed steel, and wood framing observations; spray-applied fire-resistive materials (SFRM); exterior insulation and finish systems (EIFS); hot-mixed asphalt (HMA) and concrete pavement evaluation and testing, roadway stabilization, retaining wall observations, and observation of subsurface explorations including test borings and test pits.

Brian and the COT Wilkes Barre team have managed testing services on several large energy projects and logistical development sites throughout northeastern Pennsylvania. Most recently, GTA has provided geotechnical and construction testing services for the expansions of the LVHN Hazleton Oncology project, St. Luke’s Stroudsburg Hospital, and Great Wolf Lodge in the Poconos. Prior to opening the Wilkes Barre office,

Brian oversaw project management on several large logistics/warehouse projects in the Lehigh Valley as well as commercial, apartment, and parking garage projects within the Neighborhood Improvement Zone in downtown Allentown. Brian oversaw the opening of GTA’s new Wilkes-Barre office and is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day field operations and project management for our northeastern Pennsylvania service area. The Wilkes-Barre office offers COT, geotechnical, and environmental services as well as an in-house concrete and soil laboratory.
