Bob Magyar has been promoted to the position of Vice President of GTA and is responsible for overseeing geotechnical engineering and construction observation and testing (COT) services projects performed by our Abingdon, Maryland location. He is a licensed professional engineer in Maryland, Pennsylvania, and Virginia and holds the designation of Project Management Professional (PMP)®.

Bob joined GTA in 2013 and has broad and varied field experience in the geotechnical engineering, construction observation, and material testing fields. His areas of specialization include shallow and deep foundation systems, ground improvement, soil stabilization, and retaining wall and paving construction. With a background in Structural Engineering, Bob also specializes in special inspections for timber framing, cold form metal framing and structural steel.

He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from The Pennsylvania State University and his Master of Engineering degree in Geotechnical Engineering from University of South Carolina. Bob also has a graduate certificate in Railway Engineering and holds several construction-related certifications through W.A.C.E.L., ACI, and SHA. Professional organizations which he is a member include American Society of Civil Engineers, Harford County Contractors Association, and Project Management Institute. In June of 2023, Bob completed the Construction Executive training through FMI.

Bob is currently overseeing geotechnical engineering and COT services for several commercial and residential projects located throughout northeast Maryland. These projects include geotechnical explorations for large-scale solar projects and COT services for multi-phase residential developments. Bob also served as the Senior Engineer responsible for GTA’s COT services for Great Wolf Lodge’s award-winning, six-story, $250M complex in Cecil County, Maryland.
